Srinagar to Zojila Pass Road Status = Closed

ATTENTION: On 15-11-2022, there shall be no traffic movement on Srinangar-Sonamarg-Gumri road ( Srinagar to Kargil) Zojila Pass from either side in view of snowfall on Zoji la


Subject to fair weather and good road condition , both way traffic shall be allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar and vice-versa on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road. LMVs from Minamarg will be released followed by HMVs (down traffic) at 0600 upto 1100 hrs, LMVs from Sonamarg will be released at 0600 hrs upto 1100 hrs and HMVs from Sonamarg (up traffic) will be released after the tail of down traffic crosses Sonamarg . No Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing.

Kindly note that only one way traffic is allowed because this winter a very high amount of snowfall throughout the entire Himalayan region. As a result, the Zojila pass was closed till April. Zoji La Pass and the entire Srinagar Leh stretch are now open for vehicular traffic. BRO is still working on making the road stable but that is something that happens for the entire season.

For now, if you want to travel to Ladakh from Srinagar by road, you can continue with your plans. The hotels in Kargil., Ladakh, and Srinagar have started to accept tourists as well.

A lot of the situation will also depend on how the COVID situation will unfold this year. So far, things are still far from being under control and you should practice utmost caution to ensure that you do not catch the infection anywhere. But only the coming months will tell how the rest of the year is going to be.

Srinagar to Sonamarg Road Status = OPEN

The road between Srinagar to Sonamarg is currently open and the hotels in the valley are also open for tourists. You are free to travel to Sonamarg as of now and explore the region. 

Mughal Road Status = Closed

The historic Mughal road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in the Jammu region is now open. If you do not want to travel the Srinagar Jammu highway and would rather take a much more scenic but less crowded route, you can travel via Mughal Road. The Anantnag to Kishtwar road is now also open.

The Srinagar-Jammu national highway has been declared open as well.
